Cateno De Luca is an Italian politician who became mayor of Messina in June 2018. Born in 1972 in Fiumedinisi, mayor of Messina developed his interest in politics from early ages. When he was 14 years old, Cateno De Luca joined the youth club of Christian Democrats. At the age of 18, he was elected to the City council and at the age of 22, he was appointed Councilor to the municipality. His first attempt to become mayor of Fiumedinisi was in 1998, but he did not succeed in his attempt. He reapplied in 2003 and this time, he won the elections. De Luca was reconfirmed as mayorof Fiumedisini  in 2008. In 2012, he became mayor of Santa Teresa di Riva, a small town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Messina, which he led until 2017.
