Biography

Federico Sboarina is an Italian politician, lawyer and mayor of Verona since 2017. Born in 1971 in Verona, mayor Sboarina was fascinated by politics and legal processes from his early ages. This prompted him to enroll into University of Trento, Department of Law. He graduated in 1997 and soon after started his career as lawyer. The work he has done in this area only intensified his interest in politics, with his first steps visible in 1999. At that time, he was the founder of the "Volare con i Valori" association which specialized in analyses and research of local politics and culture, with the goal of promoting these aspects to a wider population. With this organization, mayor of Verona established the basis for his future political development. In 2002, he was elected as councilor in the Verona Municipality. In 2007, Sboarina was re-elected for the position of councilor in Municipality of Verona, where he was serving in the Department of environment protection, sport and organization of leisure time. Afterwards, Federico Sboarina established "Battiti per Verona" association in 2014. This association focuses on local politics. The program of the association promotes citizen participation and promotion of economic changes in both the city and the region. The goal is to bring politics closer to people, but also to establish Verona as an internationally respected and recognized city. His previous works in the sphere of politics over the years, prompted Federico Sboarina to announce his candidacy for the position of mayor in 2017. After he won municipal elections, Federico Sboarina was officially named mayor of Verona. The first major event organized by mayor Sboarina was XI Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona in 2018. There, many organizations and countries from both Europe and Asia met and discussed further economic development. This event enabled the city of Verona to promote its own ideas and agendas, which greatly benefited local projects. Next year's Eurasian Economic Forum Verona was also reinforced by mayor Sboarina, with even more participants and speakers. These events started expanding and growing, all with help provided by the City Council and mayor Sboarina.
