Biography

Jean-Luc Moudenc is a driven French politician, member of the Republicans, and the current mayor of Toulouse who has been holding this position since 2014. This wasn’t the first time for Moudenc that he won the elections as he previously served as the mayor of Toulouse from 2004 to 2008. Jean-Luc Moudenc was born on 19 July, 1960, in Toulouse and gained his education at the Toulouse 1 University Capitole. Before his successful political career, he worked as a journalist and shortly after he graduated, Moudenc entered local politics. He is the mayor who has never hidden anything and always displays his professional situation in full transparency which is certainly one of the reasons why the citizens of Toulouse elected him in 2014 and then again in 2020. His political career started when he became a municipal councilor in 1987, before entering the Regional Council of Midi-Pyrénées in 1992, where he stayed until 2004. He was also General Councillor of Haute-Garonne from 1994 to 2008 for the canton of Toulouse-9m. From 2012 to 2014, he served as a member of the National Assembly for the third constituency of Haute-Garonne. Since he won the election in 2014, he has launched many urban development projects. His wish is to make the city of Toulouse a better city in which the citizens will have a better quality of life. The capital of France’s southern Occitanie region, Toulouse is known as the “Pink City” because most buildings in the city are made of pale colored bricks. It’s a great city to wander and look at the architecture and that is why Jean-Luc Moudenc is dedicated to preserving the city’s unique beauty. He respects the city’s rich history and is dedicated to preserving the important architectural, cultural and artistic heritage through many renovations and he also takes care about preserving natural spaces in Toulouse. Jean-Luc Moudenc has placed ecology among the priorities of his mandate. Mayor of Toulouse also cares about the environment and took part of the project of building the Oncopole solar energy plant which is an exemplary case of an environmentally-friendly project. This solar plant produces the equivalent of the power consumed by more than 4,000 homes and helps the people of Toulouse improve their local environment. (photo credit: wikimedia)
