Bologna has launched the 14th edition of its Parchi in Movimento project aimed at promoting physical activities in parks.

City authorities headed by Mayor of Bologna Matteo Lepore pointed out that residents have an opportunity to try out new activities under the guidance of professionals.

The project is implemented in cooperation with partners including local authorities and private companies. It was launched in mid-May and will run through the end of September.

Bologna stressed that the project is open to residents of all ages and level of fitness, noting that it promotes spending time in the city’s parks and remaining physically active.

Councillor for sports Roberta Li Calzi pointed out that the number of parks where activities will be organised has doubled compared to 2022.

She noted that city authorities allocated more funds for the project this year due to growing popularity of the initiative.

City authorities pointed out that this year’s activities include pilates, capoeira, yoga, fitness, dance and more, stressing that residents will have an opportunity to socialise and spend time in nature.

The project was launched in 2010 and has been gaining popularity, with more than 77,000 residents participating since the launch. Bologna invited residents to register for programmes online and try out new activities free of charge.
