The city of Nice, led by the mayor Christian Estrosi, is taking exceptional measures to support businesses and merchants in the areas facing the Covid-19 crisis.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has taken responsibility of being alongside those who, throughout the year, are at their service, creating jobs and growth in the territory. The City wants everything to be done quickly to help overcome this difficult period, give the means to preserve the activity and jobs, and thus mitigate as much as possible the social and economic impact of the Covid 19 crisis.

While the Covid-19 epidemic is growing on the national territory and the country is placed under confinement for the second time this year, the support for merchants is a major issue and has to be undertaken in order to limit the disastrous economic consequences of the pandemic.

Reactivating the measures taken in spring 2020:

  • support of the take-away model – currently being updated
  • exemption from rents for merchant tenants of the assets of the City of Nice and the Metropolis

  • exemption from the taxes

New measures offered to merchants:

  • Creation of a delivery system supported by the City to promote home delivery procedures, in collaboration with four bicycle-taxi companies approved by the city. This model will initially benefit restaurateurs and booksellers
  • A vast digitalization plan will be launched to maintain activity through e-commerce. The city will subsidize the creation of websites and digital tools under certain conditions.
  • We will also grant merchants who practice take-away free use of public space at the right of their store
