Nice is boosting road traffic safety

Promenade des Anglais is likely the most famous stretch of seafront in Nice, which offers a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean coast and draws numerous tourists every year.

Since the first part of the 19th century, this 7-kilometer-long promenade has served as one of the most popular landmarks of the French city. It is used by locals of Nice as well as tourists for walks, exercises, or just a quick retreat while gazing out to sea.

Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi has recently been working on making Promenade des Anglais much safer, for cyclists and pedestrians alike.

Mayor Estrosi stated on social media: ”Securing of the pedestrian and cycling areas of the Promenade des Anglais is progressing!”

”In order to limit the risks when pedestrians and cyclists cross, the first devices that I announced a few weeks ago have already been installed,” he announced.

The recently added traffic lights are meant to allow people to pass safely. Furthermore, the pedestrian crossings will now be more visible to users of the cycle lanes, the mayor of the French city explained.

”These measures, which go hand in hand with an increase in the number of checks carried out by the municipal police, should enable everyone to travel safely and in the best possible conditions on this road, which concentrates different types of mobility,” Mayor of Nice further stated.
