Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi has announced a new partnership between region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency), with the goal of jointly tackling ecological challenges.

Mayor Estrosi stated on social media: ‘’Acting for the climate is a necessity: In order to meet ecological challenges, the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region has chosen a partnership with ADEME.’’

‘’Over 6 years, we will jointly invest more than 150 million euro in favor of the energy transition and the circular economy,’’ mayor Estrosi further stated.

The partnership should enable resource conservation, develop multi-modality, rationalize logistics systems, and set the course for carbon neutrality by 2050.

‘’Each local authority must commit to this trajectory. We will encourage them to make a change in terms of construction and housing, but also to go further in their soft mobility policy, waste prevention and management and in their greening policy,’’ mayor of Nice stressed.

The Recyclerie des Moulins, a model of circular economy in Nice, has drawn international attention. Environmental, social, and economic objectives are all served by this exemplary circular economy model.

Recyclerie des Moulins, which was established in 2018, has successfully transformed an entire neighborhood in this well-known seaside city on the Côte d’ Azur. The project is centered in large part on recycling and giving old and faulty things a new life.

According to the 2021 Circularity Gap Report, the world economy is only 8.6% circular. An ambitious goal has been set to bring the percentage up to 17% by 2030, mostly by focusing on sectors with high change potential. (photo credit: Freepik)
