Bologna separate waste collection – the emerald card arrives in the Porto Saragozza district
Bologna expands separate waste collection to Port-Zaragoza district outside the city: 50 Hera (multi-utility in environmental, water, and energy services) instructors will go door to door of all residents to deliver each two copies of the card that will be used to open the bin of unsorted waste. The bins, 415 in total, will be placed progressively starting from November 23, 2020.
In particular, the disposal of unsorted waste needs a magnetic key to open the bin with a fairly small drawer (30 liters) to encourage separate collection. Once the unsorted waste bag has been inserted, the user should just press the pedal to close the drawer. Thanks to the card that opens and the pedal that closes, it is never necessary to touch the bin. In addition to the Emerald Card, the bin can also be opened with a smartphone (Android) using the free app Il Rifiutologo.
