Nice invites proposals for management of vegetable and aromatic herb gardens

Nice has invited proposals for management of vegetable and aromatic herb gardens, calling on interested parties to send their proposals via e-mail.

Headed by Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi, city authorities pointed out that proposals must be submitted by 12 January next year.

As part of a broader project, Nice invited offers for managing the Fulconis aromatic herb garden, noting that the garden will be handed over to new management at the start of next year.

The garden may not be divided into plots and is already planted with Mediterranean herbs, with Nice inviting residents from the neighbourhood to help manage the garden and reap the fruits of their labour.

Additional city-owned plots will be offered as part of the project and new competitions are to be launched when contracts expire.

Nice pointed out that it launched advertising campaigns to promote the project and announced localised campaigns as new gardens are to come online.

According to rules, associations of citizens will sign agreements with city authorities on management of gardens that will list the details on garden size and how it is to be cultivated.

Nice stressed that the framework can be improved and amended to help residents take part in the project and tailor it to suit their needs.

City authorities noted that the project is part of Nice’s efforts to strengthen the circular economy and make full use of city-owned land.
