Mayor Ludwig: Vienna’s administration remains most transparent in Austria

In the Transparent Municipality Index, a measuring instrument for transparency in local government developed by Transparency International Austria, Vienna once again took first place, just as it did in 2017 and 2019.

Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig stated on social media: ‘’The decisive factor for the excellent result was that the Vienna city administration proactively made a large amount of relevant information available to the population on its website.’’

The City of Vienna’s procurement platform and the City of Vienna app, which provides real-time notifications of Wiener Linien disruptions, severe weather warnings or other events are just some examples of the numerous initiatives that Vienna has taken to increase transparency on the Internet, mayor Ludwig stated.

The municipal communication annual report, which was released for the first time in April 2022, marked another significant step toward more transparency and traceability.

‘’On the one hand, the report provides information about the diverse projects of the press and information service in areas such as crisis communication, brand management or online media,’’ Mayor Ludwig stated.

‘’On the other hand, it shows all information campaigns of the City of Vienna including relevant details (such as topic relevance, target groups, budgets or target achievement),’’ he continued.
