Mayors Ludwig and Hřib signed a cooperation agreement to exchange ideas on different fields

Mayor of Vienna Michael Ludwig and mayor of Prague Zdeněk Hřib have signed a cooperation agreement that covers information exchange in the fields of digitalization, sustainable development, and transport management.

Mayor Ludwig said: “Prague and Vienna are both considered important university cities and major engines of economy, innovation and democracy in their countries. in addition to urban development with a balanced mix of space for work, housing and business, ecology and sustainable growth of the economy are also a goal of the cooperation. The agreement is based on the UN goals for sustainability in order to preserve our planet for future generations.”

Mayor Hřib said that the agreement with Vienna is very important: “I hope for an exchange of know-how. Both Vienna and Prague are pursuing green, smart projects and can benefit from each other’s experience.”

Prague and Vienna agreed to exchange their know-how in transportation planning, waste management and in the financing and development of infrastructure, housing and the provision of public services over the next five years. Other focal points of the agreement are digitalization and best-practice exchange in the social field, as well as cooperation in the field of crisis management; a topic that has become more relevant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
