City of Duisburg and NRW KULTURsekretariat announce the art prize CityARTists 2021
The prize money is awarded as grants and amounts to 5,000 euros per artist and member city. A total of up to ten creative participants from ten member cities will be honored. The city of Duisburg is once again involved in the “CityARTists 2021” campaign.
The call for applications is aimed at individual artists who have had an artistic training (e.g. university, academy, master class) and / or have had a number of exhibitions, for example in museums, art halls or art associations. Applicants must have reached the age of 50 at the time of application and must be resident in the member city in which they are applying. Artists who applied in 2020 are cordially invited to apply again. Unfortunately, the CityARTists winners from this year cannot apply again.
Only digital applications received by email are valid. The application, a maximum of twelve pages and summarized in one PDF) should contain the artistic résumé with detailed information on training and exhibitions (maximum two pages) as well as references and examples of works. Internet references are possible, but not decisive. In addition to the application PDF, a cover letter (maximum two pages in one PDF) is expected, in which, among other things, the intended use of the prize money for exclusively artistic purposes is explained. In this context, it should be pointed out that, in addition to the information on the use of the prize money, the works of the artist are decisive for the jury.
The application period ends on April 30, 2021. Submissions received later will not be considered. Subsequently, a local jury under the leadership of the Duisburg City Cultural Office selects an artist and submits the proposal to the central jury of the NRWKS. The decision of the central jury will be made by September 30, 2021 at the latest.
Applicants can contact the cultural office of the City of Duisburg if they have any questions and send their application there digitally.
In addition to the city of Duisburg, the following member sites also take part: Aachen, Bielefeld, Bochum, Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Hagen, Cologne, Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Moers, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Münster, Neuss, Oberhausen, Recklinghausen, Solingen and Wuppertal.
