Bratislava supports the development of sports and culture in 2021

The City of Bratislava, led by mayor Matúš Vallo, is publishing a call for applications to support sports activities with an amount of EUR 600,000 in its budget for 2021.

After last year’s introduction of an innovative application system for the Grant Program for the Development of Sports and Education in Bratislava, the capital publishes another Call for Applications for a program to support activities carried out in the public interest through the investment of funds in sports infrastructure. The funds are intended for the construction, reconstruction and modernization of sports fields and sports facilities of sports infrastructure.

In 2020, the capital supported 17 projects worth 850,000 euros. For 2021, the city budget approved 600,000 euros. The minimum grant amount for one project is 10,000 euros, while the maximum is 150,000 euros.

Those interested in providing a subsidy for the program can register and submit their applications in the period from 23 December, 2020 to 1 March, 2021 until 12:00 on the website

For the year 2021, Bratislava has also announced a call in the grant program Strategic Support for Cultural Events, in which it will support established cultural events. The Bratislava City Foundation, which publishes a schedule of calls for 2021, also continues to support culture and communities.

The Strategic Support for Cultural Events grant program is intended for established events held in the capital – festivals, shows, etc., which form an integral part of the city’s cultural offer. At the same time, these are events that are accessible to the general public and have the potential to become part of the city’s identity. Events must be implemented for at least 3 years and last for a minimum of 2 days.Applications can be submitted until January 25, 2021. The City of Bratislava has allocated 130,000 euros to support the program.

“We are aware that the uncertainty associated with the pandemic and the restrictions can be expected in 2021 as well. However, we consider it important to contribute systematic support to the sustainability of cooperation between creative and production teams, which have experience and know-how during pandemic which has significantly affected the implementation of cultural events”, said Zuzana Ivašková, Head of Culture and Administrator of the Bratislava City Foundation.
