Vilnius plans kindergarten with a swimming pool
Vilnius is planning to build a kindergarten with a small swimming pool in the Pilaitė neighbourhood.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Vilnius Remigijus Šimašius pointed out that the new kindergarten will be a welcome addition to the neighbourhood with a growing number of young families.
The new kindergarten will have room for approximately 320 children split into 16 groups and will boast a small swimming pool for the children.
Deputy Mayor Edita Tamošiūnaitė pointed out that the city is happy to launch new kindergarten projects and added that the city administration is aware of the preschool education problem in Pilaitė.
She noted that the kindergarten will be built in two stages, with the pool to be added in the second stage. The existing outdoor sports area will be expanded and a play area added.
City authorities reminded that Vilnius is building new kindergartens and modernising existing ones to meet the needs of the residents, stressing that projects are modern and do not compromise on quality.
The new kindergarten will have two floors and an elevator to make the upper floor accessible to people with special needs, with city authorities noting that the courtyard will be green and suitable for hosting events.
Vilnius concluded that, besides addressing the shortage of kindergarten capacities, the project will make the neighbourhood more appealing and greener.
