Mayor Dipiazza welcomed the Ambassador of Georgia in Trieste

Ambassador of Georgia to Italy Konstantine Surguladze visited Trieste for the first time. He was accompanied by the first advisor for political affairs Irakli Vekua and the advisor for cultural affairs David Gomarteli.

Mayor of Trieste Roberto Dipiazza received them in Trieste town hall. President of the municipal council Francesco di Paola Panteca also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, mayor Dipiazza had the opportunity to discuss with Ambassador Surguladze the issues and problems of international nature.

Mayor Dipiazza highlighted the role and the increasingly international value of Trieste, underlining the importance of its Port, institutions and scientific methods present and active in the territory and again the important work started by the municipal administration for the full enhancement of the Porto Vecchio area.

Cultural, touristic and historical aspects were also discussed during the meeting. Many factors which are in common between Trieste and Georgia were highlighted.

Ambassador Konstantine Surguladze declared: “I am happy to be in the beautiful vity of Trieste and to meet the mayor Roberto Dipiazza. I hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to strengthen our relationships and that I will come back soon “.

At the end of the meeting, after the traditional exchange of gifts, with the delivery of the coat of arms of the City of Trieste to the ambassador, the diplomatic delegation was accompanied by municipal council president Francesco di Paola Panteca to the Municipal Council room where they admired the large allegorical painting of “The commercial prosperity of Trieste” by Cesare Dell’Acqua from 1877.
