A historic day happened for Trieste. On March 4, the Program Agreement between the Municipality, the Region and the Port Authority for urban regeneration and redevelopment of the areas of the Porto Vecchio of Trieste was signed. The Program was signed by the Mayor of Trieste Roberto Dipiazza, the President of the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga and the President of the Port System Authority, Zeno D’Agostino.
“I am very satisfied, because today is a historic and unforgettable day which will always be particularly close to my heart. I signed a program agreement for the Porto Vecchio project, together with the presidents Fedriga and D’Agostino, whom I thank once again”, underlined Mayor Dipiazza. “It is an incredible job, so I thank all those who are involved – the Region and the Port Authority, the employees, councilor Polli and Giulio Bernetti and all the technicians. This is a historic day for Trieste, an extraordinary moment”.
Great satisfaction was expressed by the presidents of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Massimiliano Fedriga and of the Port Authority, Zeno D’Agostino, who highlighted the great importance of this new stage in the enhancement of the Porto Vecchio.
Mayor Dipiazza also said that the Urban Planning expresses a clear vision of the future structure of the Porto Vecchio – greater attractiveness and greater freedom for entrepreneurs will be achieved.
The Municipality has approved a Masterplan that identifies 5 systems: scientific, cultural-museum, recreational-sports, mixed and piers. The Masterplan defines public spaces, green areas, design guidelines and upgrades to existing infrastructures and buildings with the strategic aim of returning to the city an abandoned port area and its connection to the urban surroundings.
