Lyon: “Citoyens du patrimoine Annie & Régis Neyret” Award
After the success of the first editions of the Award, the City of Lyon is launching a new call for applications for the 2021 edition of the “Citoyens du patrimoine Annie & Régis Neyret” Award.
The City of Lyon offers the opportunity to showcase initiatives thanks to the “Citoyens du patrimoine Annie & Régis Neyret” Award to associations, neighborhood councils, foundations, companies, or individuals in love with Lyon’s heritage.
Beyond its active heritage policy, Lyon knows how much the safeguarding of its historical heritage is played out on the ground, thanks to the public mobilization.
This prize supports remarkable commitments and rewards local actions, whether restoration, historical research, the dissemination of knowledge, or the enhancement of know-how around the treasures of Lyon’s history.
The call for applications is open with the deadline on November 17, 2020, at noon.
The originality of the project, innovation in restoration, conservation, or enhancement practices (use of new tools, digital technology, creation of events, consideration of different audiences, etc.) will be essential to attract the attention of the jury.
The participatory, civic, and united dimension of the project will be taken into account, as well as the concern to raise awareness among the general public. Finally, the attention paid to partnerships with others will distinguish the candidates.
A jury of heritage experts
The jury for the “Annie et Régis Neyret” Citizen’s Heritage Prize is chaired by the Deputy Mayor of Lyon delegated for Heritage.
It is made up of representatives of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Urban Planning of the City of Lyon, but also of the Regional Department of Cultural Affairs, and a key player in the associative world.
It also includes qualified personalities from the world of heritage and tourism.
At stake: € 5,000 awarded to one or more winners. The “Annie & Régis Neyret” Citizens of Heritage Award will be awarded during the “Heritage Rendez-vous”, organized by the City of Lyon.
Annie and Régis Neyret legacy
An emblematic and visionary couple in the fight to safeguard Lyon’s heritage, Annie and Régis Neyret have worked for decades and with boundless energy in the service of the Renaissance association of Vieux Lyon.
These two passionate citizens of Vieux Lyon were as interested in its architecture as in its social and human aspect, according to a motto that was dear to them: “Men come before stones.”
With the RVL, they played a leading role in the choice of Vieux Lyon as the first protected area in France (1964), and in the inscription of the historic site of Lyon on the Unesco World Heritage list (1998).
The City of Lyon has chosen to pay tribute to them by attributing their name to the Citizens of Heritage Prize.
