Gothenburg launches summer activity grant scheme for children and youth

News

Gothenburg has invited applications for grants for summer activities of children and young people.

City authorities headed by Mayor of Gothenburg Jonas Attenius pointed out that grants will help associations and non-profit organisations to arrange activities for the summer holidays.

The move is aimed at providing more opportunities for children and young people to socialise, and will help associations to gain new members.

To be eligible for grants, proposed summer vacation activities must be free for children and youth aged 7 to 16 and open to everyone regardless of membership in the association.

Activities may not be part of associations’ regular business and must take place during the summer vacation.

Priority will be given to activities aimed at increasing participation and involvement of children and young people who are not active in associations.

It will be given to projects that offer opportunities for participation of children and young people who live in socio-economically vulnerable parts of the city.

City authorities invited associations and non-profits to submit their applications by 21 April and noted that grant winners will be informed about the administration’s decision by 16 May.

Applications can be submitted online, with Gothenburg reminding applicants to save all receipts connected with summer activities.
