Exploring nature’s transformative power at NetworkNature annual event

EventsNews

Cities and other local government units are increasingly turning to nature-based solutions (NbS) to address a variety of issues, from climate change mitigation and adaptation to enhancing biodiversity and improving human well-being. These solutions, which include green roofs, rain gardens, and wetlands, among others, work with nature to provide a range of benefits while also reducing the negative impacts of human activities.

To explore the transformative potential of NbS and the policies, financing, and scientific advancements needed to mainstream them, the NbS community is coming together for the NetworkNature Annual Event on June 8, 2023, at the Flagey Building in Brussels, Belgium. The event will feature interviews, presentations, panel debates, and interactive sessions that highlight how NbS can benefit sectors and communities, and showcase the creative side of NbS. Attendees will also learn about different EU-funded NbS projects and have the opportunity to network with policy makers, scientific experts, investors, infrastructure planners, and natural resource managers.

Prior to and after the event, attendees can participate in site visits to NbS projects in Brussels and Antwerp. And on June 7, NetworkNature is hosting a marketplace where attendees can share information about their NbS initiatives, projects, and business models. There will also be a workshop for micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises interested in NbS, and a gathering of NbS Hubs representatives.

Cities and local governments are increasingly recognizing the value of NbS as an important tool for achieving their sustainability goals. By working with nature, they can simultaneously address multiple issues while also enhancing resilience and improving quality of life.
