Organizers of the Eurovision Song Contest have announced Italy’s city host for the 2022 edition: it will be held in the city of Turin.

Mayor of Turin Chiara Appendino celebrated the news with the post on social media: “We won! Turin has won!”

Eurovision 2022 will be held at the PalaOlimpico arena. The semi-finals are scheduled for 10 and 13 May 2022, while the big finale will be held on May 14.

Eurovision Executive Supervisor Martin Osterdahl stated: “Turin, a stately cultural centre situated at the foot of the Alps, is the perfect host city. As we saw during the 2006 Winter Olympics, PalaOlimpico exceeds all the requirements needed to stage a global event of this scale and we have been very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment from the City of Turin who will welcome thousands of fans next May”.

Italy is hosting the 66th edition of the competition after Italian rockers Maneskin won Eurovision this year in Rotterdam and Turin is the third Italian city host after Naples in 1965 and Rome in 1991.
