Verona goes green with electric vehicles for municipal authorities
Verona has acquired electric vehicles for municipal authorities, noting that the move will improve sustainability and help the city to reach environmental targets.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Verona Damiano Tommasi pointed out that local police has received two electric scooters and eight e-bikes, while an electric car will replace an old vehicle used for public works.
Verona stressed the importance of switching to environmentally friendly vehicles as part of broader efforts to reach climate targets.
New electric vehicles for local police were acquired through the environmental project aimed at making the fleet more sustainable and lowering greenhouse gas emissions worth more than EUR 27,000.
City authorities noted that scooters cost roughly EUR 6,000 each, while e-bikes cost nearly 2,000 each. The electric car that will be used for public works cost roughly EUR 24,500, with Verona noting that the move is part of a broader push to phase out polluting vehicles from the city’s fleet.
Councillor for security Stefania Zivelonghi pointed out that local police welcomed the acquisition of new electric vehicles and added that the move will make interventions more efficient.
City authorities stressed that Verona will continue to replace old vehicles with electric ones in the coming years and announced plans to allocate more money for this purpose.
