150 new electric bicycles, 50 of which are equipped with child seats, have been presented in the City of Verona and became part of the bike sharing fleet service in Verona. The bright red colour highlights a completely renewed design and the pedal assist system facilitates the use and movement.
The model which is technologically advanced and performs to the needs of users is a novelty in Italy and is proposed for the first time in the city of Verona.
The fiery red frame and the completely renewed design compared to the traditional bike model make them immediately recognizable. Light and easy to handle thanks to a total weight of less than 25 kg, the bikes are equipped with an innovative connection system that manages the power of the engine and communicates the battery charge level, position and any anomalies in real time.
The saddle is supported by a graduated triangular tube which prevents rotation and makes driving easier. The new e-bikes are equipped with a three-speed gearbox and a central shaft motor that accompanies and optimizes pedaling thus offering users the opportunity to try a new travel experience.
The pedal assisted bicycles can be used with the current subscriptions for a cost of use equal to 0.25 euros for the first half hour. The rates of use are available on the bikeverona.it website and on the official Verona Bike app. The electric battery, monitored with a GPS system, is always guaranteed to be fully charged.
The novelty, which enriches the city bike sharing service and the wide range of vehicles, already made up of 420 traditional pedal bikes, was presented this morning in Piazza Bra by the councilor for traffic Luca Zanotto together with Alberto Dinoi of Clear Channel Italy.
“The offer of an increasingly important transport service for the mobility of Verona is growing and strengthening – underlines the councilor Zanotto -. The entry of e-bikes, the introduction of the new software in June 2020 and the constant expansion of the stations cycle available in the area, represent the three main action points of a broad expansion plan. The goal is to guarantee the improvement of a service that is more appreciated every day, now widespread in all the city districts, with stations also located outside the historic center ”.
The bike sharing network, present in the city since 2012 with 22 stations and 250 bicycles, has been increased since June last year with 18 new stations in all city districts and 170 new traditional bikes. Today, therefore, there are 40 collection points, for a total of 420 traditional pedal bikes and 150 electric bikes. Technologically renewed service, with a more dynamic and functional interface. Touch screen, website and app are the tools through which one can use the service in a simple and fast way, but they also become a direct communication channel to find all the information and receive support and assistance from the dedicated Customer Care.
