Saint-Étienne proud to welcome the Olympics 2024

City of Saint-Étienne is one of the 8 cities outside Île-de-France which will host the events of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in France 2024. The Geoffroy-Guichard stadium has been chosen to host football matches for “Paris 2024”.

So far, City of Saint-Étienne hosted major sporting events (Euro 2016, Tour de France 2019, Rugby World Cup 2023, etc.) and now, once again, the city will be celebrating sport through hosting of the 2024 Olympic Games .
After submitting the candidacy on November 10, the organizing committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games confirmed on December 17 that the Geoffroy Guichard stadium will be one of the 7 stadiums that will host football matches during this planetary event (July 26 – August 11).

“Saint-Étienne is today even a bit more an Olympic territory”  declared the mayor of Saint-Étienne and President of the Métropole, Gaël Perdriau.

Mayor Perdriau said: “it is not possible to host such a prestigious football competition. taking place on national territory, without the Cauldron”.

“In the next four years, many initiatives will be launched, in coordination with all the stakeholders in the territory, to mobilize as many people as possible and make Paris 2024 a major and very popular sport festival.” concludes mayor Gaël Perdriau.
