“1,000 children’s books for junior doctors” for Essen’s youngest residents
Due to the corona pandemic, the little citizens are also more concerned with the topic of health. It is not always easy for parents to answer all questions in an easily understandable and child-friendly manner. The non-fiction book “Meine Kinderklinik“, specially developed for the young target group, provides help. With the 1,000 children’s books for junior doctors campaign, the University Medicine Foundation is making free copies of books available to the cities of Essen and Duisburg.
Lord Mayor of Essen, Thomas Kufen is excited about the children’s books: “A great campaign that comes at exactly the right time. Especially now, children shouldn’t be left alone with their questions about health. The youth welfare office of the city of Essen coordinates the distribution campaign our 300 or so daycare centers. The plan is to actively integrate the book into the work of the individual daycare groups”.
The first copies of the campaign were presented to him by the patron Babette Albrecht, whose generous support made it possible to develop the books, and Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Jöckel, CEO of the University Medicine Foundation.
