Marking the 10th year of its participatory budget programme, Warsaw again invited residents to submit their proposals for developing the city.

Headed by Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski, the city administration pointed out that it allocated more than EUR 20 million for the programme this year and reminded that residents submitted nearly 21,000 ideas in the previous nine years.

More than 900 residents took part in the programme each year, preparing projects and gathering signatures from their neighbours.

Karolina Zdrodowska, Deputy Mayor of Warsaw, stressed that she is happy with the level of participation and expressed hope that the number of residents who take part in the programme will grow larger.

She called on residents to submit their ideas, pointing out that city authorities are open to local as well as city-wide proposals.

Last year, residents submitted 1,943 proposals of which Warsaw authorities deemed 1,327 to be feasible and in line with regulations, with 326 selected for implementation.

City councillor Anna Auksel-Sekutowicz pointed out that thousands of projects improved Warsaw over the last year and thanked residents for helping city authorities do more to develop the city.

“I suspect that many of such ideas would not have been created if not for this great willingness to act and positive energy of Varsovians,” she concluded.

Residents can submit their projects by 25 January next year, with city authorities offering support and consultation to participants.
