Warsaw launches social campaign to promote family volunteering

Warsaw has launched a new social campaign encouraging families to volunteer together.

Headed by Mayor of Warsaw RafaƂ Trzaskowski, city authorities pointed out that nearly half of Varsovians volunteered in 2022 and expressed hope that engagement will remain high.

High figures in 2022 were largely driven by Warsaw’s commitment to support refugees from Ukraine by providing them with housing and assistance.

City authorities pointed out that volunteering brings people together regardless of age, education or experience, noting that volunteering organisers have proposed a broad range of activities.

Many tasks can be performed without special skills or knowledge, even by children, with Warsaw calling on families to volunteer together.

Deputy Mayor Karolina Zdrodowska noted that volunteering helps to develop empathy, commitment and selflessness, which are as important as education.

She added that the campaign will help to strengthen family ties by providing an opportunity for families to spend more time together and work as a team. It will help parents and carers to lead by example and instil positive values and attitudes in children.

City authorities noted that residents can apply for volunteering online and added that institutions and organisations seeking volunteers will post their programmes on the portal.

Activities depend on the organiser and range from holding workshops to playing board games with nursing home residents.
