Uppsala-Stockholm railway to be expanded
Mayor of Uppsala Erik Pelling announced that the railway between Uppsala and the Swedish capital Stockholm will be expanded.
Mayor Pelling stated on social media: ‘’Fantastic news: Minister of Infrastructure Tomas Eneroth announced that the government is investing SEK 10 billion (941 million euro) in the expansion of the railway between Stockholm and Uppsala.’’
The mayor of the Swedish city explained that the project known as Fyra spår Uppsala (Four tracks Uppsala) has been brought forward and that construction can start several years earlier than expected.
As a result, more companies will now be able to set up businesses in Uppsala and the project will also lead to better labor market mobility, more job and professional opportunities in general.
‘’This is something we have been fighting for too long and which will make it easier for the tens of thousands of Uppsala residents who travel daily by train,’’ mayor Pelling also stated.
Uppsala is located 64 kilometers north of Stockholm. Uppsala’s high potential as an attractive business location is reflected by its strong integration with the Stockholm region and a dynamic start-up and innovation culture powered by its excellent educational institutions.
‘’For us, it goes without saying that you should be able to live in Uppsala and work in Stockholm, or vice versa, and still manage to fit your daily life together,’’ mayor Pelling concluded. (photo credit: macrovector/Freepik)
