Trojmezi agricultural area set for revamp as Prague plans major purchase
Prague has announced plans to buy and develop Trojmezi, a disused agricultural area between districts 4, 10, 11 and 15.
City authorities headed by Mayor of Prague Bohuslav Svoboda pointed out that revitalising the area will add recreational and natural value, improving quality of life.
Councillor for housing Adam Zábranský noted that acquiring the plot in question would allow city authorities to plan comprehensive development and integration of the area.
He added that the move would help the city to preserve nature and biodiversity in the area by placing parts of it under protection.
Zábranský announced plans to develop recreational content in the area, including swimming pools, parks and playgrounds, among other.
City authorities stressed that the focus of the project will be on protection of natural values and added that development of recreational content will be proposed gradually and in line with environmental protection rules.
Prague noted that a network of bike and footpaths in the area should be restored and added that it could be used to hold environmental education programmes and offer an opportunity for community gardening.
Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček reminded that the revitalisation plan was developed in cooperation with residents and reiterated that acquiring the land will allow city authorities to make full use of it.
