From June1, Saint-Étienne is launching a new public transport supscription at only €10 / month or a subscription of €110 / year (€ 9.17 / month) for unlimited rides and without commitment for people in precarious situations, such as youngsters under the age of 26, retirees over 60, people with disabilities and their accompanying persons.
Mayor of Saint-Étienne Gaël Perdriau said via social media: “Promise kept. It’s a commitment that was very important for me to make: solidarity pricing for the metropolis! To fight social inequalities, isolation, and for the environment!”
Saint-Étienne is now positioned as the cheapest metropolis in France with 65% savings on the monthly transport budget. Access to the entire public transport network costs only 30 cents per day, therefore this new offer will significantly reduce family budgets.
Two new, more advantageous school transport subscription models will be offered: a subscription to school transport lines at €100 for 10 months with the possibility of also accessing, on request and at no extra charge, the entire Stas network, and a rate of €150 for 10 months for people who need to combine several transport networks (Stas, SNCF, regional lines …).
Mayor Perdriau also stated: “Taking public transport is easy, it’s good for the environment and it’s cheap!” Photo saint-etienne.fr
