Paris Car Free Day is back for its sixth edition

Sunday, September 27, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., is the sixth edition of Paris Car Free Day. Same as last year, the entire city will be reserved for non-polluting traffic, bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, skateboards, but also pedestrians and public transport users. On September 27, Parisians and visitors, will leave a car or motorized two-wheeler in the parking lot.

The car-free zone will again cover the whole of Paris, excluding the ring road. In the heart of Paris, in an area covering the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th arrondissements, but also on the Champs-Élysées and throughout “Paris Respire” districts, the system and the barriers will be reinforced.

On September 27, everyone is invited to leave their motorized vehicle in the garage to enjoy Paris differently, by public transport, by bike, on foot, on rollerblades, or a scooter.

On this occasion, many car parks in the city are offering  very advantageous rates (-30 to -40% compared to the normal rate). From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., no motorized vehicle may circulate in Paris broader center, two-wheelers and electric vehicles included. Offenders risk a 4th class fine (€ 135 fine).

In all perimeters Paris Respire zone, (including the Paris Respire sector center) only buses, emergency vehicles, and taxis will be allowed to drive with a speed limit of 20 km / h.

In the rest of the Paris area, buses, emergency vehicles, taxis, and VTCs can circulate, with a maximum authorized speed set at 30 km/h.

Parisians returning home from the weekend will have to present proof of residence when entering the capital. Everyone is therefore invited to leave their car or motorized two-wheeler in the garage to enjoy car-free Paris.

This year, three new Paris Respire sectors was added to the area: Brèche aux loups (12th), Poterne des Peupliers (13th) et Solidarité (19th).

During Car Free Day, the City deploys:

  • 500 agents at the gates of Paris
  • 250 agents in the Paris Respire zones (in particular Paris Center and Champs-Elysées)
  • 60 mediators who will be at your disposal to provide you with information

The pedestrian center one Sunday a month

As a reminder, every first Sunday of the month, the center of Pris is reserved for pedestrians and moderate traffic. The opportunity to take advantage of this Paris Respire district, on a large central perimeter, on foot, by bike, on rollerblades, or a scooter!
