New solar panels in Alicante
Renewable energy is a source of power that comes from clean and natural resources. Green energy does not harm the environment which is why many cities are trying to implement and use renewable energy as much as possible.
Suominen Corporation, a Finnish company that manufactures nonwovens as roll goods for wipes and other applications, has installed a solar panel plant on its site in the city of Alicante with 2222 solar panels. The solar plant will provide a clean, fossil-free electricity supply to the Alicante production site. The solar panel plant has a capacity of 1 MW.
The installation of these solar panels is important for Alicante because it will provide the city with more green energy which will further help the city become more sustainable and environmentally friendly. This is also another step further towards achieving Alicante’s sustainable development goals and achieving Europe’s renewable energy target of using 32% renewable energy by 2030.
The installation of the solar panel plant has been done in line with the previously announced shift to fossil-free electricity in all our European plants.
Installing more solar panels also helps the city of Alicante to make more accessible use of affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy to combat climate change and all of its negative effects.
“The shift towards sustainable energy sources is a step forward for us but other measures remain important as well. For example, improvements in the energy efficiency have a direct impact on our emissions,” says Juan Carlos Esteve, the Director of the HSEQ management system.
Alicante has a growing interest in sustainability, and the city has already carried out three major projects to offer a better quality of life for the residents.
One of these projects was the adding up of about 50 kilometres to all the trails in natural spaces, forest parks and environmental trails in the city, which is one of Alicante’s aims to turn the city into a greener city with cleaner air. (photo credit: Nonwovens Industry)
