New cartography for the Messina municipal area
The city of Messina at the suggestion of the councilor to Turismo Enzo Caruso, and in partnership with Geoplan, a national leader in the cartographic sector, will create professional cartography for the municipal area. In addition to buildings, traffic, and the commercial POI, the most modern satellite detection systems which, will integrate the city tourist routes used in the recent VISIT-ME project.
The initiative, to which the Municipality of Messina has granted free (non-exclusive) patronage together with the Chamber of Commerce and the Port System Authority, was an opportunity for traders who will be able, in case of adhesion, to promote its activity adequately in the commercial outlets of advertisers and in the most frequented places in the city, thanks to the widespread distribution of 25,000 paperback copies, 200 rigid posters and 40 infoplanes in different formats.
“It is a welcomed initiative that does with no expenses for the municipal administration but that responds to a dual purpose: on the one hand we increase the quality and quantity of the information to our visitors, on the other hand, we take the suggestion as a large-scale promotional vector for our merchants who are trying to come out of a difficult crisis”. declares the Councilor for Tourism Enzo Caruso –
In addition to the presence of their own advertisement on the map with geolocation and QR Codes connected to their internet pages, the companies participating in the project will have a promotional campaign on social media Facebook and Instagram, as a part of the website geoplan.it with more than 8 million visits per year and through the top search engines: Google, Yahoo Italy, MSN, and a tab on the GoLocal Site, in the area dedicated to the Messina Guide. A local business will have a place for their promotion by images and texts.
GEOPLAN, the Italian branch of the German multinational Städte-Verlag Ev Wagner & J. Mitterhuber GmbH, has been producing professional cartography of the highest level for over 50 years throughout Europe and the USA. All the works are designed by professional cartographers based on Aerofotogrammetric surveys (CTR). The detail is such that it allows identifying in addition to the complete viability, even every single building, parking lots, sports facilities, green areas, pedestrian areas, cycle paths, and to highlight the offices of offices and public services, of museums, theaters, etc.
