Messina joins forces with companies to promote environmental education
Messina has joined forces with investment companies to promote environmental education in the municipality.
Mayor of Messina Federico Basile pointed out that the city is continuing to promote environmental education, reminding that it started in 2018.
He noted that the Messina 2030 Green Events project is aimed at promoting the culture of sustainable development in all schools and is supported by local authorities as well as companies.
Basile stressed that change has to start from schools and concluded that local authorities and companies have been doing an excellent job in this regard.
City authorities signed a memorandum of understanding with the companies in question – AMAM, Messinaservizi Bene Comune and Messina Social City and ATM.
Provincial School Office of Messina head Stello Vadalà thanked the city administration for the opportunity to cooperate on cultural growth of the city and stressed the importance of green initiatives.
He expressed hope that the innovative project will help to transform schools in the municipality and beyond, stressing that young generations will form the future.
Representatives of companies expressed willingness to cooperate with city authorities on promotion of environmental education in schools, noting that the move will improve Messina and the planet.
City authorities concluded that the project will help schools to teach students about pollution, use of water resources, protection of habitats and waste treatment and disposal, among other.
