BudapestGO, a new travel application which was launched in February this year, has already reached a big milestone, Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karácsony announced on social media.

Mayor Karácsony stated on social media: ‘’Good news from BKK: 1 million tickets and season tickets have been purchased with BudapestGO in four months!’’

The previously used FUTÁR app of the BKK (Centre for Budapest Transport) has been renamed to BudapestGO, and it now includes numerous useful features that make it significantly easier for Budapest’s residents and visitors to use the public transportation system.

Though the app, all locals and tourists can, among other things. plan their journeys, purchase individual tickets and season passes. The app also provides real-time travel information, as well as timetables that can be displayed in a more straightforward manner, making journey planning much easier.

‘’I am happy to see that the app, which was launched in mid-February, is becoming more and more popular among passengers, as evidenced by the fact that the number of travel plans has also increased: compared to the monthly average of 1.5 million in the former FUTÁR app, BudapestGO users planned 2.6 million trips in May,’’ Mayor Karácsony also stated.

BudapestGO app also offers features such as personalised transport updates via push messages, buying local or intercity tickets and passes for most municipalities in Hungary, or finding out the estimated time of arrival of a specific transport vehicle at any time.

The local public transportation system in the Hungarian capital is commonly regarded as one of the best and most efficient ones in this part of Europe.

‘’I recommend BudapestGO to everyone, whether you’re buying tickets, season tickets or planning a trip,’’ Mayor of Budapest Gergely Karácsony stated. (photo credit: bkk.hu)
