Mayor of Hannover Belit Onay visited the online marketing company Heise RegioConcept, a Hanoverian family business with a long tradition and impressive development. Mayor Onay once again confirmed his dedication to further developing Hannover as a digital city.

Mayor Onay stated on social media: ‘’I agreed with Ansgar Heise that together we want to develop Hannover as a digital location even more than before. We want to attract and retain talent and ensure that Hannover uses the opportunities of digitalisation in an innovative and forward-looking way.’’

According to mayor Onay, a modern, smart city is a result of a team effort by different players. That is why this German city, which is home to one of the world’s largest trade fairs, has launched a number of important projects which are meant to strengthen its reputation as a smart city.

‘’There are a lot of things happening right now, such as ‘’5GAPS’’, the project that we are currently launching at the exhibition centre with many partners from science and business, or the Smart City funding programme, in which we are working concretely to improve the quality of staying in the city,’’ mayor Onay further stated.

In collaboration with Deutsche Messe AG and other commercial and scientific partners, Hannover has officially launched the “5GAPS” project. The objective is to manage and expand public spaces in a digitally flexible manner using the new mobile communications standard 5G, which allows for the transmission of massive volumes of data.

‘’It will be our task to bring this together more strongly and to think together with the initiatives from civil society and the local economy – especially from small and medium-sized businesses,’’ mayor of Hannover Belit Onay continued.

‘’I look forward to the next meeting and am grateful for the impulses,’’ he concluded. (photo credit: Heise RegioConcept/Facebook)
