Dott, the micro mobility operator, is continuing its commitment to promote and boost conditions for sustainable mobility in the Italian city of Palermo, PalermoToday reported.

The company headquartered in Amsterdam will be adding 500 shared electric bicycles in the city of Palermo, which will be gradually added to the fleet after 500 scooters were introduced in March 2021.

Mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando stated: “The sharing scooter service is now an important element in Palermo urban mobility. An offer that is now expanding, thanks to Dott. They decided to invest in our city by bringing shared electric bicycles. This is a confirmation of the excellent work carried out by the municipal administration which has chosen to focus on sustainable micro-mobility for urban travel.’’

‘’It is a confirmation that this particular sector of the mobility market is in continuous development also in our city, which is a reason to focus on support and promotion of sustainable micro-mobility,’’ he continued.

Palermo residents can now access the two services (electric bicycles and scooters) interchangeably through a single app, according to their own preference and habits.

Giusto Catania, Councillor for Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, stated: ‘’The use of cycle lanes has made bicycle travel safer. We are sure that with the implementation of the new bike sharing, there will be further benefits for urban mobility and air quality.’’

Founded in 2018, Dott strongly believes that by working together with municipalities and communities, they can play a part in creating greener, more sustainable and more inclusive cityscapes with less traffic and pollution.

Dott stated on social media: ‘’Ciao Palermo! Our e-bike’s are now available, unlocking effortless travel around the city and helping reduce congestion and pollution.’’ (photo credit: pch.vcector/Freepik)
