Essen hosts first trade fair dedicated to urban cable cars

Starting from today, Messe Essen will host the “Cable Car World” trade fair, which is the world’s first trade fair dedicated to urban cable cars as an equal component of urban mobility.

Mayor of Essen Thomas Kufen stated on social media: ‘’In the middle of the Metropole Ruhr and thus also in the heart of Europe, around 30 exhibitors will present how the cable car can become part of ’the urban mobility mix of the future.’’

A specialist symposium, which will feature with more than 20 national and international specialists, will discuss contemporary concerns connected to urban cable car mobility in four topic blocks, and is considered as the central event of this year’s trade fair.

‘’The starting point for the new trade fair are the numerous considerations in Germany, Europe and worldwide to use cable cars in public transport in the future,’’ Mayor Kufen explained.

The “Mobility Lab,” located at the heart of Cable Car World, will allow visitors to speak with independent specialists from various companies and institutions, as well as three of the world’s largest cable car manufacturers, Mayor Kufen explained.

Moreover, Cable Car World will also feature eleven renowned universities from Germany and Austria that deal with urban cable cars. They will be given the opportunity to present their projects and research.

‘’During the parallel congress, I will discuss with experts how to gain acceptance for cable car projects, the technical and planning specifics, legal and regulatory issues as well as concrete cable car projects and perspectives,’’ Mayor of Essen Thomas Kufen stated.
