Athens completes digitalisation of municipal services
Athens has completed the process of digitalisation of municipal services, noting that 207 services are now available online to citizens.
Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis pointed out “Athens is changing gears from today: 100% digital, 100% direct service and 100% priority for the citizens.”
Municipal services have been available online since the start of the year to residents and businesses, with city authorities reminding that Bakoyannis promised to wrap up the digitalisation process by the end of 2022.
Of the 207 services available online, Athens added the last 56 in the period between October and December last year, noting that the digitalisation process was completed in 35 months.
“Athens is leading the national effort for digital transformation… in less than 3 years we have created a high-tech and zero-bureaucracy municipality, effectively and immediately responding to one of the biggest demands of our citizens,” Bakoyannis pointed out.
He added that the move will improve efficiency and transparency as well as lower the administration’s environmental impact while saving time and making life easier for residents and companies.
City authorities pointed out that residents and companies submitted more than 260,000 applications since the completion of the digitalisation process and added that nearly 200,000 citizens and businesses have registered on the platform.
