La Manufacture (“The Manufacture”), a unique location for both France but also whole Europe, continues to develop through the expansion of the Grande Usine Créative (“Big Creative Factory”).
“2,000 additional square meters dedicated to the start-ups, innovation and jobs of the future, in the heart of the city of design were inaugurated this morning”, shared mayor of Saint-Etienne,Gaël Perdriau via social media yesterday.
La Grande Usine Créative is located in the heart of the Manufacture-Plaine Achille creative district, one of the main development projects in Saint-Etienne. This complex of more than 100 hectares now deploys a rich ecosystem of companies, places dedicated to innovation, educational establishments and public facilities: the Superior School of Art and Design, Télécom Saint-Etienne, the Mixeur, the Fabuleuse Cantine and the brand new Center of Knowledge for Innovation.
The idea is to offer divisible and modular offices in this industrial hall of 2,500 m² – it has adaptable premises of 25m² to 235m², a rational and scalable office grid, as well as many sharing spaces (co-working, meeting rooms, equipped kitchen). La Grande Usine Créative already hosts many creative and innovative companies of all sizes with various themes, such as computer programming, architecture, design and sustainable development. An ecological and design building has large bay windows and offers generous work spaces.
It is also home to two major players in the Saint-Etienne economy: FrenchTech business incubator supported by Saint-Étienne Métropole, which houses offices for very small companies in the design and digital sector and Village by CA.
“The 3rd phase of 1,000 square meters planned for 2023 will bring the Grande Usine Créative to 5,600 square meters, and the area dedicated to young companies and innovation in the heart of the city of design to more than one hectare”, stated mayor Perdriau.
