P + R (“Park + Ride”) Neustrie: this is what is called moving into another dimension! Located at the terminus of tram line 3, in the town of Bouguenais, the Neustrie (P + R) park-and-ride facility initially included three enclosed car parks representing a total of 314 car spaces. 949 places of this type are now available as follows:

  • a built-in car park with 779 spaces on five levels,
  • a small car park with 20 places like drop-off and pick-up,
  • the conservation of an existing ground floor P + R with 150 places.

The existing car park also houses 50 secure BiclooPark bicycle spaces, 20 motorcycle spaces and 10 electric charging stations. It is one of around twenty controlled access car parks managed by NGE. 13.71 million euros have been invested in this extension.

Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes and President of Nantes Métropole, said: “For several years, Nantes has chosen to develop these P + Rs, where the interface between automobile and public transport is played out. It is a link in our travel and parking strategy”.

Characterized by its clean lines, dotted with touches of yellow and small green patios, the new parking lot has a double system of ramps to facilitate the flow of vehicles. The access system is flexible: depending on the time of day, the three auto lanes can switch from a configuration of two incoming lanes / one outgoing lane to two outgoing lanes / one incoming lane.

As for pedestrian traffic, sliding glass doors communicate directly with the platforms of the bus and tram interchange hub, which has been fully modernized. “It is not a P + R or an intermodal zone, it is a set where the user switches from one mode to another”, summarizes Gohar Manrique, from the architectural company Idom.

In addition to the tram, four bus lines (40, 48, 78 and 88) serve the Neustrie interchange. The idea is to limit car traffic in the heart of the agglomeration by favoring public transport.

“For the inhabitants of the South-Loire, the opening of the P + R Neustrie was eagerly awaited”, welcomes the mayor of the municipality Sandra Impériale. “This equipment contributes to the Metropolis’ commitment to the climate and the purchasing power of users”, underlines Denis Tallédec, Nantes elected representative for traffic and parking.

Parking is free for up to 24 hours, if combined with the use of public transport for Libertan subscribers. For occasional users of public transport, the P + R ticket allows you to park your vehicle and benefit from a return trip on public transport for up to 5 people traveling together. It is also possible to contract a resident or non-resident subscription.
