Alicante: an agreement for improving sustainable mobility has been signed

The Alicante Town Hall and the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid (EMT) have sealed a collaboration agreement for improve sustainable mobility and promote common projects, actions and initiatives, enhancing the synergies that achieve increase the use of public transport through the exchange of information and with new technological experiences, reports The Saxon.

The agreement has been signed by mayor of Alicante Luis Barcala, and the Councilor for Mobility and the Environment of Madrid, Francisco de Borja Carabante. The aim is to develop collaboration mechanisms in the field of transport and sustainable mobility. They will also share experiences and good practices on issues of common interest on these matters.

Mayor of Alicante Luis Barcala explained: “Within these exchanges of experiences stands out the use of new technologies, renewable energies, the optimization of urban transport and the progressive promotion of public transport by the individual for gaining spaces for people in the cities”.

Mayor Barcala continued: “It is the first agreement that the Fitur framework agreement with mayor of Madrid José Luis Martínez-Almeida. In this case we are talking about the mobility, an issue that occupies us and worries us a lot that has charged a great prominence through the pandemic. We had to take many measures to facilitate the use of urban transport, modernize it and bet on sustainability and change city model”.

Some of the proposed initiatives are: new mobile applications and technological projects related to public transport, information on electro-mobility, new systems payment, sustainable mobility measures, improvement of technological initiatives, exploitation of data that improves the use of public transport, as well as the customer experience.
