Participants from 21 schools and colleges entered 5,000 photographs taken by 1,400 students aged 9 to 20 into the 26th Foto Jove competition.
The Mayor of Palma José Hila, and the Councillor for Education and Language Policy, Llorenç Carrió, took part in the opening of Foto Jove at the Casal Solleric art gallery in Palma.
Mayor Hila said: “In times of Covid and all the social challenges that we are all facing together, it is excellent to explore the reality from a young perspective and transforming the days in order to review our world and travel to an amazing universe”.
For 26 years, this competition encourages young people to show their most creative works on issues related to art and culture.
This yeat, 36 prizes were awarded through three categories based on age. A lot of Mallorca’s companies took part in awarding the children.
The exhibition is open until May 20 and contains a selection of photographs from the awards winners and others. Photo credit Palma Council
