Dementia relatives in Malmö get digital support from city authorities
Malmö has launched the digital dementia guide to help relatives of people suffering from dementia.
Headed by Mayor of Malmö Katrin Stjernfeldt Jammeh, city authorities pointed out that the guide will provide support to relatives and inform them about measures available in Malmö.
The support is available to relatives of people suffering from dementia and other cognitive disorders, with city authorities pointing out that Malmö offers a number of healthcare and social measures.
Besides measures available in Malmö, the guide also covers measures available at regional and national levels.
Project manager Eklundh Paglert and consultant Karin Skogmark who helped to develop the guide pointed out that many people learn about available programmes long after they could have applied.
Skogmark stressed that the guide will help relatives to take action to improve quality of life of affected people and those close to them.
Paglert added “as a municipality, we need to provide the right information and the right support at the right time” to help relatives of people with dementia and other cognitive disorders.
They noted that relevant information was unclear, scattered and not comprehensive, stressing that the guide addresses these issues and adding that city authorities consulted a group of families to improve the guide.
Skogmark concluded that the guide will be amended and expanded as needed in line with feedback from users.
