Creating a friendly city environment that attracts talented people is one of his goals, but he also wants to make the city of Ostrava attractive for new investments and workers. This way, mayor of Ostrava is creating a better image and the marketing strategy of the city and the region.
This year, under Macura’s mayoral term, Ostrava’s City Assembly approved the City’s commitment to achieving a 55% reduction in its carbon dioxide production by 2030. To achieve these goals, mayor Macura has been collaborating with various partners in Ostrava to implement measures that improve energy efficiency. One of his main goals is to make the city of Ostrava greener and less polluted. This is why his focus is on using renewable energy resources, supporting clean mobility and revitalizing parks and public greenery.
Many of Ostrava’s parks and other areas of greenery have undergone and are currently undergoing revitalization. Also, new flowerbeds simulating natural plant communities are being planted across the entire city. These projects are very helpful in reducing air temperatures and electricity consumption because they reduce the need to use air conditioning systems.
Tomáš Macura has also started some projects which include creating new cycle routes which will encourage the citizens to switch to alternative forms of transportation.
