Vigo in preparation for the celebration of Christmas
The Mayor of Vigo Abel Caballero surprised the audience of a Spanish digital terrestrial television channel promising: “I am not going to leave Spain without the best Christmas on this planet”.
The celebration of Christmas in Vigo will be staged a 1,000% Covid-19 security measures. Mayor Caballero has been very blunt during a live interview on La Sexta channel. The mayor explained part of the mechanism that will be put into operation when the holidays approach to stop the spread of infection.
“We will have entire streets controlled by cameras, reduced capacity, and people sitting at the main events,” said Caballero, who stressed that if the health situation worsens in the area, all events would take place without an audience and would be broadcast by streaming. “I’m not going to allow that Spain runs out of the best Christmas on this planet,” he joked in front of the cameras, talking about the future date and other possibilities of reusing the money that the city has allocated to Christmas lighting.
During his TV coverage, the mayor of Vigo and president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), also reviewed the main current issues, such as the closure of Madrid. “At this time, I would tell Díaz Ayuso, president of the Community of Madrid, to change his attitude. It is time to act and now, what he has to do, is to cooperate with the Government of Spain. You have to dedicate yourself fully to serving citizens and put party politics aside,” Caballero said.
