Valladolid has launched a cycling project offering bicycle parking services in the city.

City authorities headed by Mayor of Valladolid Óscar Puente pointed out that the project was received well, with some 450 people using the new service in the first few days.

Valladolid is offering the service at 12 accessible and safe locations and is planning to add 8 more in the coming months.

Puente and councillor for mobility Luis Vélez visited one of the 12 locations, with Vélez stressing that the project “is one more step in the cycling mobility strategy of the city that will place Valladolid in the top tier of European cities.”

He added that the service allows cyclists to leave their bicycles in safe places where they will be cared for at very affordable prices.

The service will be offered free of charge until 13 February, with city authorities noting that the number of location will increase from 12 to 30 in the coming months and reach 80 by the end of the year.

Valladolid pointed out that the project promotes cycling and facilitates regular use, inviting residents to try the service for free until mid-February.

All bicycle parking locations have charging points for electric bicycles and facilities with larger capacity also have tools for maintenance and air pumps.

After the free trial period ends, users will be able to choose different monthly models or pay a fee of one euro for daily use.
