Toulon enhances local environment with park redevelopment project

Toulon has completed the redevelopment of the Place de la Fosse à Bois worth EUR 700,000.

Mayor of Toulon Hubert Falco opened the new park and reminded that construction started in October last year.

Residents previously used the area as an improvised car park, with city authorities pointing out that 43 new parking spaces are now available, of which 3 are reserved for people with reduced mobility and 2 have electric chargers.

Besides building the new car park, city authorities planted 14 new trees and installed 6 public benches, noting that water and wastewater infrastructure in the area was modernised as part of the project.

Tree species chosen for the park are resistant to drought and well suited for the local climate.

Falco pointed out that the project is part of Toulon’s broader efforts to become greener, reminding that new trees have been planted in several neighbourhoods in recent months.

The move will improve air quality and biodiversity, curb pollution and noise, and limit the heat island effect, among other.

Falco noted that Toulon continues to cooperate with private investors and implement measures aimed at improving the business climate.

This has attracted companies to the city, which strengthens the local economy and provides residents with more employment opportunities, he concluded.
