Sofia enhances quality of life with park renovations and green initiatives
Sofia continues to invest in its parks and other green areas, noting that renovation of the Nadezhda Park should be completed later in June.
Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova reminded that the city has been restoring and renovating green areas in recent years and added that parks are some of the favourite places of residents.
The large park in Nadezhda district now boasts new lighting, trees and other greenery, park furniture and more, with a new network of paths to be completed in the coming weeks.
Visiting the park with district Mayor of Nadezhda Dimitar Dimov, Fandakova pointed out that the old fountain will be restored to make the park more enjoyable.
City authorities noted that the North Park will have a new skateboarding area this year, reminding that construction is underway, and added that Sofia is preparing a new park project in Mladost district.
Fandakova noted that Sofia is “investing in the renovation of about 65 public courtyards” this year as part of broader efforts to make the city greener and added that the role of district mayors is very important.
Dimov reminded that a dangerous building near the park was recently demolished and announced a survey to determine what the residents want the plot to be developed into, pointing out that the neighbourhood could use more sporting and recreational content.
