Sanctuarization of green spaces
The Mayor of Marseille Michèle Rubirola announced the negotiation with the stakeholders of the Porte d’Aix real estate project, against which a community has been mobilizing since July.
The community continued their action by organizing a new rally on Wednesday, September 23 in front of the town hall of Marseille to protest against the devastation of the green spaces at the Porte d’Aix landmark. Mobilized for more than three months, the community targets a real estate project and calls on the town hall to action.
“The only response via media from newly elected officials is to transplant a few remaining trees.” It is an insufficient measure for these residents who are demanding declaration for the sanctuary of the green spaces.
“We need a clear, strong, and immediate position of the new town hall to break with 25 years of concreting and a property developer’s devastation of Marseille.”
A newly elected town hall inherited this project from the previous town hall majority with almost zero room for maneuver.
