Marseille targets road safety and job opportunities in new project

Marseille has launched a mobility project for residents aged 16 to 18 focused on education and development of skills.

City authorities headed by Mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan pointed out that the project is in line with the city’s education policies and efforts to help young residents become more active.

As part of the project, young residents will have an opportunity to attend training on traffic laws and road safety to help them pass driving tests and get a license.

Marseille stressed that getting a driver’s license helps young people to be active and opens new job opportunities, among other.

City authorities noted that the training is free and part of Marseille’s efforts to create equal opportunities for young men and women in the city.

The project is open to young residents who live in neighbourhoods that are far from public transport or are poorly connected.

Training will take place during the summer break, from 10 to 25 July, with city authorities pointing out that more details will be made available in the coming days.

The courses will help attendants learn about traffic rules and concepts, preparing them for taking driving tests. Attendants will receive individualised training and support, and classes will be mixed.

On average, young people will attend 12 3-hour sessions, including introductory courses, individualised training and evaluation.
